How to calculate an average of percentages?
To calculate the average of percentages, you need to add up all the individual percentages and divide by the total number of percentages. For instance, if five students scored 90%, 80%, 70%, 60%, and 50% on an exam respectively, you would add these numbers together (90+80+70+60+50) and then divide by five because there are five students.
Average of percentages formula
AV% = P1 + P2 +P3 + P4 + ……. / TNV
AV% = Average Percentage
P1, P2, P3…. = Percentages of each value
TNV = Total number of value
Average of Percentages = (Sum of Percentages) / (Number of Percentages)
Example of Average of percentages
For example, let’s say you want to find the average of three percentages: 25%, 50%, and 75%.
- Add the percentages: 25% + 50% + 75% = 150%.
- Divide the sum by the number of averaged percentages: 150% / 3 = 50%.
- The average of these three percentages is 50%.
