## What is Average?

The average of a set of numbers is the sum of the numbers divided by the number of items in the set. So, if you have a set of numbers, you can find the average by adding them up and then dividing by the number of numbers in the set.

If you add all of those numbers up, you get 15. Then, you would divide 15 by 5 to get an average of 3.

The formula for calculating the average (mean) of a set of numbers is:

**Average = (sum of all the numbers) / (total number of numbers)**

It can be expressed as:

**A = (Σx) / n**- A= Average
- Σx = sum of all the numbers in the set

## How to Calculate the Average?

*Example 1:-* suppose we have a set of numbers {3, 5, 7, 9, 11}. To find the average of this set.

- Average = (sum of all the numbers) / (total number of numbers)
- Average = (3 + 5 + 7 + 9 + 11) / 5 = 7
